Idly


Ingredients:
  • Idly rice - 4 cups
  • Urad dal - 1 cup
  • 1 tsp fenugreek seeds
Preparation:
  1. Wash and soak rice and dhal separately for 8-10 hours.
  2. soak fenugreek seeds along with urad dhal.
  3. Grind urad dhal first and then grind rice smoothly.
  4. Add salt and mix thoroughly with hands.
  5. Keep closed and keep in a dark place for 10 hours and let it ferment.
  6. After 10 hours mix the fluffed batter with a spatula.
  7. now mix a pinch of baking soda wit little amount of water and add to the fluffed batter.
  8. now ur idly batter is ready.
  9. Grease the idly plate with oil and pour a ladder full of batter and steam cook in idly cooker for 7 - 10 mins.
  10. Now remove from flame and allow to cool for 5 mins.
  11. Then dip a spoon in cold water and run it around the mould and flip them out using a spoon.
  12. Fluffy idlys are ready to serve.
  13. Serve with Coconut chutney or sambar.
